November 11th, 2008 :: Fall Catch-Up
I've been so busy it's literally dizzying but I could not be happier any other way.
I will catch you up on some of the bigger events as of late:
I will catch you up on some of the bigger events as of late:
- November 11th: Claudia Goetzelmann is a photographer that I am just nuts about! When I saw her work, I knew I absolutely had to collaborate with her somehow. I was thrilled when ford let me know I would be doing a test with her today. After an interesting adventure over to Alameda, I arrived at the house of Bernadette. The lovely Casey had already been shooting with Claudia from early on and I knew right when I saw what Claudia was up to that it was going to be a fun day. Bernadette had a fantastic house over in Alameda, each room was accented with the most random and funky of furnishings that would be any photographer's dream. Claudia's was working on a project that would be submitted to her agency in Europe, who puts out a gigantic magazine 2x a year. The theme of this particular magazine was "Identity". Claudia felt that nothing shows the identity of a girl better then her purse. Each girl was photographed with her purse and the belongings sprawling about which showed the identity of the girl. I was "white trash" girl, with the most awful and tacky objects coming out of my purse as i layed out of a vintage trailer in the back of the house. Although I cringed at the idea of being a "white trash girl", it was at the same time so elegant and beautiful and high fashion. The magazine will be out in Europe in the beginning of 2009, and also will make a great piece for my portfolio. You MUST look up Claudia's work! www.claudiagoetzelmann.com
- November 10th: Shot with Tara Chumpelik (P), Steve Elias (H), and Johnathan (M) for an editorial of some amazing HAIR Steve was doing. I was excited to work with Tara again because I did one of my very first shoots with her about two years ago, and it still to this day is one of my favorites! Also was looking forward to shooting with Steve because he did the hair for Rocket Dog and that man has SKILLS! Steve had just gotten all this human hair in from Australia and he picked four girls to rock these gigantic hair sculptures. Each girl also was given a fierce bra and pair of shoes to wear with a pair of skinny jeans. But the hair did all the talking in these photos. Attached is a photo the makeup assistant, Lena, snapped. It was very HEAVY!
- October 23rd: Had an amazinggg time shooting Rocket Dog Shoes. Drove up the night before and had an interesting stay in a hotel near the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. Woke up very early the next morning and began our first of 6 looks. The entire crew was lovely and we got to meet the designer for Rocket Dog, she was great. It was such a long day but the looks were amazing so it made it a lot of fun. The other girl shooting with me, Casey, was a doll. Rocket Dog told us that our pictures will be in subways, the backs of buses, taxis, on billboards, in the store and in Teen Vogue and Nylon come Spring. :)
- October 21st: Worked with RC Rivera (Photo) and Nieves Rodriguez (Hair/Makeup) for a spread for the upcoming December issue of San Francisco Magazine. The shots are very close up of me holding beauty products. The products were from a local woman who has a website that shows all the best natural skin care things to use. They smelled amazing. RC did great lighting, I'm excited to see. I'll have to get back to you on the name of the company, It's slipping my mind at the moment....
- October 21st: French Connection United Kingdom (FCUK) hired 8 Ford Models, 4 Women, 4 Men for a neat marketing idea. The men were to wear Fcuk's new line of suits, walk around Union Square while the 4 women followed them around with no more than stilettos, white collared men's shirts and jackets. Simultaneously, a group of a dozen paparazzo (Actually real photographers hired out for the day) would follow them around making a big scene flashing cameras and taking picture of the whole ordeal. I had a great time being part of this, but I have to say it was the most PAINFUL few hours of my life. I was happy to be with some of my favorite girls from Ford, but by the end of the day we were all in tears with these horrible plastic shoes absolutely stabbing into all of our feet. I'm writing this on Nov 6th, and I still have blisters. We all felt horrible about complaining, but it was a very ouchy situation to say the least.
- October 11th : Landrin Chocolates asked the lovely Gina and myself to host their area at the VIP Party for Fleet Week on top of Pier 39. I adore Gina, and we had a ton of fun trying to out-yell the planes above to tell people about our yummy sweets. Only glitch? I picked up my dress from the tailor just hours before the event, and found out my Russian tailors had chopped the dress up to my .... well, you know. We saved the day with a pair of white shorts underneath, but as you can imagine our bosses were more pleased than upset with the ordeal.
